Hello Dear Brother,

Thanks for your email and your kind words, also your question.

I am happy to answer and also Pastor James will write you and share from his perspective.

The scriptures declare that we should baptize in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit,

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Matt 28:19

These are the words of our Lord Jesus.  However we do see some reference to the church baptizing in the name of Jesus in the book of Acts.

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  Acts 2:28

(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)  Acts 8:16

And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.  Acts 10:48

When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.  Acts 19:5

There is a people who have built a doctine and a entire denomination out of this by saying you had to be baptized in the name of Jesus only or it is not valid.  We call them the Apostolic church or "Jesus only".

The problem with this is that it is very legalistic and leaves out Jesus own instructions to baptize in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit.

A little error leaves the door open for more error. We must include all Bible truths and not just some that we want.

So to answer your question, we should baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost in Jesus Name.  As you can see from the scriptures referenced that the name of Jesus is how we are to do everything, pray, live, and baptize, but that does not leave out the work of the Father, Son and the mighty Holy Spirit.

I pray this helps you.

Love you

Pastor Chuck

Hello dear brother,

I'm Pastor James, the one Pastor Chuck spoke of. There is not really anything I can add to the answer that Pastor Chuck gave concerning your question.

However, I will encourage you with the fact that, "Water Baptism" is an outward expression of an inward truth. 1 Peter 3:21, Peter said, "There is also an anti type which now saves us, baptism, (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God)." N. K. J.

Note: What Peter was saying here, is that the symbolic act of baptism helps us to consciously understand the spiritual transformation that has taken place on the
inside of us. "Water Baptism" helps us to consciously identify with Christ, and remove the fears and doubts that we may have about  our new life in Christ.

Amplified Bible reads, "And baptism, which is a figure (of their deliverance), does now also save you (from inward questionings and fears), not by the removing of
outward body filth, (bathing), but by (providing you with) the answer of a good and clear conscience, (inward cleanness and peace) before God, (because you are demonstrating what you believe to be yours), through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ."

Note: What saves a person plagued by sin and a guilty conscience is not some external ceremony, but faith in Jesus Christ. However, the outward act of "Water
Baptism" helps us to recognize that something has taken place inwardly. Thereby, helping us to have a clear conscience.

Be blessed, and if we can be of further service to you, in your relationship with God, do not hesitate to let us know. Remember, God loves you and so do we, and nothing can ever change that. (Romans 8:38-39)
