A father in church is usually used in the catholic church. We recognize only God as our Father and not man. However it is possible to have a "father" in the faith which would be a spiritual man of God that we look to for counsel and spiritual advice, but God is our only real Father. We are born of God now.
Here are some scriptures along those lines:
And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Matthew 23:9
12 I write to you, dear children, because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name.
13 I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, dear children, because you have known the Father.
14 I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
The last scriptures were from 1 John 2:12-14 and that is where it speaks of spiritual levels of believers like fathers, young men and children in the faith.
